Paris

PARIS:

Destination 1 of the Eurotrip

After the surprisingly quick 10 hour drive from the ferry in Kiel, we arrived in Paris and Paris... I can definitely say that you were the perfect start to this euro road trip.

Paris, you showed us the true beauties of your city.

---

From the small balcony of the very chique apartment we stayed in, we were able to capture the wonderful buzz of the narrow Paris streets, exposed to the different locals carrying their baguettes, all kinds of charming restaurants, cafes and even the close encounter of the Sacre Coeur church.

Only a minute walk away from our cozy apartment, we found ourselves pleasantly surprised and welcomed by the delicacies of the Parisian restaurant Le Sarment De Montmartre and began our first evening with the famous, garlic-butter escargot appetizer, (who would've known I would be enjoying the taste of snails?), a mouth-watering main course of duck breast with apple glaze, and a grand finale of Creme Brule as dessert, which I can't deny melted in my mouth with its sleek touch. To be honest, we even came back to the restaurant the second day because we couldn't resist their food.

Beyond this cozy restaurant, and beyond our amazing apartment, we walked up the narrow stairs and streets to find ourselves at the magnificent Sacre Coeur church, with both an amazing view from the outside, as well as a beautiful view inside with such intricate details and touch - that it nearly brings about the belief in a god of some kind. The perfection within each colored tiles' placement and the stroke of the brush on each painting are astounding (just too bad I wasn't allowed to take pictures inside the church!)

On our trip to Paris, we had to, of course, visit all the renowned historical landmarks and famed tourist spots. And what greater to start with than the world-famous Eiffel Tower.

Although we could spot a glimpse of the treasure between the crooked streets here and there, it was nothing like seeing it up close and then standing 281m above ground, looking down and admiring the captivating beauties of Paris.

To continue being the curious tourists that we are, we jumped onto a Thai-like Tuk-tuk with a enthusiastic tourist guide and got all the historical entail and experience of the Notre Damm, Louvre, Arc de Triumph, cozy local streets and Champs de Elysee - where I, of course, had to pick up the trendy Lauduree Macaroons, (which cost a fortune but were fit for a queen - like heaven in a bite).

Paris has had so much to offer; from the beautiful art hidden in buildings, historical landmarks, and stored in museums, to the quaint restaurants and cafes that have since then kept my body wanting more.

Paris is really such an extraordinary city, despite the tourism and now excess security. I really wish I could have seen and experienced even more!

XOXO,
